This website is a tribute to the men and women who define the identity of the Vall de Pop.
To those who made history in the past, to those who are building it today, and to those who will continue to do so.
To all who live here, to all who respect it, to all who want to make it even better tomorrow.
This site will not point fingers at mistakes, nor hide them, nor overlook the divisions among the people who live here, nor reignite conflicts.
This site is an observation, a spotlight on a world we love, with the sole purpose of enlightening minds and sparking curiosity, without judging anyone.
This site is an open, free, and public memory. It will give a voice to all who wish to take it.
It will cover serious topics, lighthearted ones, fun stories, history, biology, climate, culture, art, tradition, agriculture, geography, humanism, ecology, feminism, and the small moments of everyday life.
This site will explore everything that defines life in this valley, as shaped by its people, both in the past and present.
It will do so with respect, humility, transparency, and kindness toward all Valencians, the community's inhabitants, all who have walked these lands, all who will be here to speak, and all who will be here to read and listen.
This site does not aim to impose, grow, profit, contradict, or sell.
This site is open to criticism, positive or negative comments, differing opinions, and everyone's perspectives.
This site will strive to be available in the most spoken languages of the valley, especially Valencian and Spanish.
As a Frenchman with a modest level of proficiency in both languages, I apologize for any clumsiness you may find on this site. I would greatly appreciate your help in improving the translations.
You can contact me at hola@lesveusdelavall.org if you would like to share your opinion or offer to help with translations.
Who are we?
My name is Michaël, and I live in Alcalalí, near the Ermita, with my wife Marie. I was born in France, near Bordeaux, in 1993. I grew up on the outskirts of Bordeaux with my parents and older brother.
I consider myself a very curious person. I have always had passions, almost obsessions, that completely captivate me. Sometimes they last a day, other times a month, or even a year. However, there are things I hold onto for life, especially those I associate with childhood memories, like cycling and the Tour de France.
I grew up with all the illusions typical of children in the 90s, convinced that the future would inevitably be better than the lives our ancestors lived.
The Genesis of the Project
After several years dedicated to my career as a developer, I reached 25 with everything I had always dreamed of: a happy life with Marie and a fulfilling family. However, something didn’t feel right.
In 2018, I realized that the world we live in will not always be the one we know. I understood that the planet is changing and that our way of life is unsustainable. In short, I came face to face with reality.
After two years immersed in cognitive dissonance, trying to align my beliefs with a world that pushes us to do the opposite, I realized I wanted a change.
We arrived here in 2020 with the desire to spend the winter under the sun, to enjoy and discover a new world. And finally, 4 years later, we are still here.
We came, above all, drawn by the beauty of the landscapes: the climate, the sea, the mountains, and that unique combination of geographical resources that makes this region a destination that fascinates people from all over the world. Over the years, we have learned to embrace an entire way of life, a culture, and a way of thinking.
The time has come to give back to this region everything it has given us.
