Ermita del Calvari
The Hermitage of El Calvari is located in Alcalalí, in the Solana district. It is the end of a Via Crucis composed of 14 chapels, created by the local priest Juan Bautista Serer with large blocks of limestone. This Via Crucis replaced the one that was on Calle del Calvario.
The construction of the hermitage, completed in 1954, was made possible thanks to the voluntary work of the residents of Alcalalí, who collaborated in tasks such as rock blasting, carpentry, and masonry. Inside are the statue of the Santísimo Cristo de la Sed by Francisco Navarro Soriano and the sculpture of the Virgen del Calvari by Vicente Rodilla Zanón, awarded in 1952.
Every year, around March 7, an open-air mass is held to commemorate the arrival of the Virgin, followed by poems offered by the children of the town.
